Dancing for Fitness and Bonding

Some married couples find it hard to commit to a fitness regime coming up with all sorts of excuses. This can be easily solved by creating an opportunity for the couple to have fun while at the same time improving their overall health. Before marriage most couples go out dancing and had fun doing this. Dance is an integral part of most wedding ceremonies too. Dance is a great way of having fun while keeping fit since it raises the heart rate. The next hurdle is to have coordinated moves so that the essential parts receive a much needed work out. Thankfully there are several fitness studios that incorporate dance as one of their programs. However, there are several forms of dancing such as hip hop, ballroom, salsa, jazzercise and even ballet. The main aim of the exercise is to enjoy and keep fit at the same time, so the favourite form of dancing has to be identified.

Once the dance style has been identified, it is important to assess the level of fitness to know the level of the program to enroll in. A basic beginner’s class will help in determining this. The other issue may that the married couple is at different levels of fitness. In such a case compromise has to be reached so that they can be at the same pace. The fitter one can help the other to attain to their level of fitness with patience. The beauty of dancing as a couple is that there is no age limit and what a way to add spice to a marriage with all that close dancing since dance involves contact.

The mode of the exercise routine has to be decided upon since there are many options such as a private instructor in the privacy of your home or group sessions. It is easy to commit to the option that one is most comfortable with rather than one that is imposing. It helps to know that the exercise routine is beneficial to the whole body. The heart benefits most since an increased heart rate helps in burning calories and this is great for reducing cholesterol levels and keeping the entire body whole and healthy. This type of exercise is recommended even for the ones who are advanced in age as it strengthens their body too. Dancing is done on ones feet so the leg from the hip to the toe is given a much needed toning and workout.

The lure of dancing is so great such that competitions are organized even for ballroom dancing. Any couple that loves to get down can take part in these and get fit while winning prizes and having fun at it too. Dance for exercise is a great way for the couple to relive their wedding day when they danced the night away till the morning light. The few extra pounds put on over the years can be shed as the couple gets back in shape in the most fun way.
