Summer Fashion Tips for the Plus-size Woman

Summer is the greatest time of the year for most people. This is because the days are longer, the weather is warm, the schools are out, and most companies give their employees time off. There are many engagements during summer months such as weddings, barbeques, and balls and your summer fashion should therefore incorporate casual wear and formal wear.

Summer months are sunny and as such, you should wear bright colors. You should wear loose fitting clothes in natural fabrics. You could wear T-shirts when going about your daily chores. You could wear tunic tops. These are particularly useful on holiday or in the beach. You could wear wide brimmed hats when the sun is at its hottest. This will not only protect your skin and maintain a youthful complexion, but it gives you an incredibly elegant look. For your summer wardrobe, try bold accessories. These may be wooded beads, oversized clutches, citrus shades, armful of bangles, and basically anything that you will have fun with and that you would not wear during other times of the year. Camisoles are one of the most versatile pieces of summer clothing and you should use them frequently under suits, but also with jeans and even with smarter trousers. For cooler summer weather, try a dress with a bolero or shrug. Summer months are months to show your legs and to be a little eccentric.

Most plus-size women go for baggy clothing. However, although you do not want to wear clothes that accentuate your flaws, you do not want to look like you are wearing a potato sack either. You should find clothes that fit you well and that you can move around in comfortably. An example of this is a blouse that hugs your bust and flows around the waist and arms. You should avoid the leopard print blouses that many claim give the illusion of a smaller body. Such clothes only draw attention to you. You should go for simple lines and neutral colors in dark colors such as tans, blacks, browns, and navy blues. These bring out an air of class and sophistication. Most plus-size women avoid shopping in high-end stores and boutiques. The truth is that these stores and boutiques hold clothes for all sizes. Wearing these clothes will do wonders for your self-confidence. You should play up your assets such as wearing an empire waist dress or a top that has highlights your bust if you have ample bosom. If your have an hour-glass figure, you should choose an outfit that comes with a belt or cummerbund. If you want to hide your hips, choose an outfit that hugs the waist and that flows over the hips. If you accentuate your assets, your flaws will become less apparent. You should try many options to get what best works for your figure because different summer clothes suit different persons. Your plus-size wardrobe will consist mostly of the same elements, but if you accessorize with belts, shoes, handbags, jewelry, and hats well, you will have different looks.

You should go through fashion magazines and the internet for tips on what is hot and what is not during summer months. This is because fashion keeps on changing.
